USA and UK: A Special Manufacturing Relationship?

Category:
Date: May 30, 2017

The future of the manufacturing industry is global, with more and more deals and opportunities being found abroad. And with the USA being the largest foreign market for the UK manufacturing sector, having bought £47.4 billion in merchandise last year, it is not surprising that we are looking to America to advance the industry.

According to a recent article in the Telegraph, both countries are looking to improve trade by engaging in a partnership that will benefit them. The UK’s Manufacturer’s Organisation and the USA’s National Association of Manufacturers have agreed to a deal that promotes and raises awareness of opportunities in the industry and in organisations.

After Brexit and with the general election looming over us, this deal is even more important, especially because of the size of the US as a foreign market. The article goes on to say that this partnership will last for at least 3 years, during which both entities will share market intelligence, data and policy work. Other advantages of this deal include trade missions that aim to provide manufacturing work and the bypassing of bureaucracy.

Although the relationship between the US and the UK is not new, this new partnership aims to improve established relations and seize new opportunities. And while Brexit might not impact the UK manufacturing sector in a negative way, the truth is that building new trade agreements can still help both countries to grow and improve it.
