Our engineers in the UK will carry out the engineering and design finalisation work before sending the signed-off drawing for forging at our partner forge shop.

The process we use at our forging company uses staged tooling and a pre-heated, near-size billet to produce parts of a simple design. This is a low-cost process for parts requiring the highest integrity and mechanical properties, but subsequent machining operations are often required to produce the finished part. It can be used with a variety of ferrous and non-ferrous alloys.
As a forging company, we extend our services to include forging where there is a requirement for very high-integrity parts of a simple design. The process is capable, and our services include the following:

Forging involves the hot metal being shaped using localized compressive forces.
Near-size billet is heated to “plastic” state
Billet is formed using a number of staged tools
Any “flash” is removed by separate tool or by hand once cooled

Forging refines the grain structure and improves the physical properties of the metal.

With proper design, the grain flow can be oriented in the direction of principal stresses encountered in actual use.

Investment casting is a flexible process that offers competitive production costs against relatively low tooling outlay, in the full range of materials, and with low, medium, and high volume production capabilities. Due to the tooling construction and manufacturing process, there is a high level of design flexibility and dimensional accuracy. This results in lower post-cast process costs.

In addition to our investment casting, Dean Group International are able to offer a selection of other services, including die castingpressure die castingmetal injection moulding, and forging. This allows us to provide the most appropriate metalworking process for your project’s needs.

We can help with the design process, from the initial concept to 3D CAD, casting simulation, prototype, and sampling, to approved production. Alternatively, for existing parts, we can import existing CAD data to improve and manufacture your part.
