Cost of investment casting
Challenging times lie ahead for the manufacturing sector as the global downturn takes hold. Markets worldwide are trying to react to a massive slowdown and the freeze on credit is affecting both large and small companies, resulting in a reduction in orders placed as companies reduce inventory to previously unheard of levels.
To add to the turmoil, companies are having to deal with quite staggering fluctuations in exchange rates which, depending on whether you are importing or exporting, has a significant positive or negative effect.
Importing anything into the UK currently has become expensive and DGI have been working extremely hard with their China supply partners to minimize the impact to customers, but inevitably some increases have been unavoidable.
Chris Dean, DGI’s MD says, “We’ve been dealing with China now for nearly 10 years and the last 18 months have been the most challenging. But the realities are clear, when the volumes allow for sourced investment castings from China they are still significantly cheaper than equivalent UK manufactured parts”.
“That said, not everything fits the profile for China and we retain our UK manufacturing facility to service the lower volume or technically demanding and specialist work; and our UK prices are amongst the most competitive around”.
So whatever your requirements, high volume or low, investment cast or other, DGI have a cost effective solution.
