Stress analysis package improves product design

It is essential to get the design of product correct at the outset. DGI go to great lengths to ensure that the castings we supply have been optimized at the design stage; every new job goes through the same procedure which involves generation of a 3D CAD model which is run through bespoke casting simulation software.

This software reliably predicts how the metal will solidify and enables us to engineer out any potential problems with porosity, caused by shrinkage defects.

We can further advise and optimize the design by using our Cosmos stress simulation package, which allows us to "load" the component and compare the strengths of various materials, allowing us to reduce component weights in the process, which in turn reduces costs. These simulation packages can be used on all our manufactured and supplied cast products, including sand castings and investment castings by the lost wax method.

Once the part is optimized, the tooling is machined directly from the CAD model to ensure accuracy. Product designed and controlled in this way will remain right, yield will be consistently high, quality repeatable and the customer happy!
